Get ready for a singing, clapping, tapping good time. Michael Mitchell will take you on a musical journey with songs and stories about the history, people, places and things that make Canada the best country in the world in which to live.
Michael is a renowned singer and storyteller and is no stranger to young audiences. He is the former co-host of the CTV children’s program Story Time, and has also written and recorded songs for Sesame Street. He has performed more than 4,700 Canada Is For Kids and Canada Is… shows at community events, festivals and schools throughout Canada.
Every Canada Is For Kids concert combines such well-known favourites as This Land is Your Land, The Log Driver’s Waltz and I’se the B’y with Michael’s equally popular originals such as I’ve Got Canada in my Pocket (about the symbols on our coins), We’re All Looking for a Dinosaur (written for Sesame Street), and Fly High (a tribute to Canada’s aviation pioneers).
Aside from Michael’s voice and guitar, the show is further enhanced with the use of pre-recorded CD music tracks, giving the sound of a full four piece band accompaniment, as well as a full multi-media visual presentation (for indoor shows).

Audience suitability: Family (all ages)
Number in the group: Michael performs solo, accompanying himself on guitar. The show is further augmented with prerecorded band accompaniment CDs, as well as a multi-media visual presentation to match each song in the presentation (for indoor shows).
Base of operations: Michael is based in Victoria, BC but travels throughout Canada for performances year round
Sound system: Usually provided by the organizer. In some circumstances, a small sound system can be provided upon request. Lighting is the responsibility of the organizers.
